I've signed up for this fabulous photo class from an amazing photographer here in San Francisco named Nicole Hill Gerulat, also known as a little sussy.
She is so talented and I've completely fallen in love with her creativity and work.
It has been such a good experience for me, and has also forced me to come out of my comfort zone a little bit...
Last week after our first class we were given "real" homework assignments, where we were informed that when we returned to class, she would be critiquing our photos in front of everyone.
(pretty sure I haven't felt that kind of pressure since zone finals in grade 11)
It ended up not being near as scary as I thought, and I figure the best thing you can get is constructive criticism anyway.
How else are you going to learn and get better?
I've learned so many things from just the first week...
-my LCD screen plays my photos back a little brighter than they will show on my computer, which is definitely handy to know.
-everything we do is in natural light, which I've always preferred, but now I understand why it creates such a better outcome.
-I can be the full commander and chief of my camera, she has taught me how to us everything manual, so that I'm in complete control of the output I get.
-I now understand creating motion, capturing motion, rule of thirds, and how to use my f/stop for a desired result.
-we were only allowed to submit unedited raw photos, because the goal is to get a great picture in the first place.
Here's just a small sneak peak at some of my homework...
