Golden Birthday

About two months ago,
Joel and I were laying in bed one night and we started talking about my birthday coming up.

I explained to him that it wasn't just my 30th this year,
but also my Golden Birthday (Sept. 30)
and that we had to make it extra unique and fun to celebrate.

Well... after days of pain and a trip to the ER
a surgeon explained to me today that I have a gall stone lodged
and that I have to have my gall bladder removed immediately... meaning tomorrow.

Unique...
um...
not so much fun...

For the record...
Joel had planned a surprise trip to San Diego,
so he had every intention of delivering.
Gotta love him.

BTW...

...is Joel's least favourite acronym that I say
and that's saying something because he hates most of my acronyms.

So I decided to use it for my new blog...

It's nothing big...

Just a way to document thoughts, ideas, projects, experiments (mostly food)
without it interfering with my family blog.

It's growing on him...

Growing up that is.

Happy, excited, thrilled to be 10 Months...

So Helpful.

This may be a little bit TMI...

So.
The other day I was in the washroom, just finishing business,
only to realize that "somebody" hadn't replaced the empty paper roll.
Mags was just around the corner playing Disney Princess on the computer, so I called for help.
She came running in yelling "what mama?"
I explained to her that I needed her to get me some new toilet paper.
I started to tell her exactly where to find it (which apparently she already knew) because she promptly responded... "I'll do it".
She then brought in the roll, and I reached for it, to which again, she promptly responded... "I'll do it".
Immediately going to the holder and assembling the toilet paper on it just so.
As I began to pull some "much needed" and "much anticipated" paper off,
she began shouting...
"No! I do it! I do it!"
I was confused...
"Mags, you're done, I appreciate your help, but I can take it from here."
She stomped and grumbled "I wipe your touche".
Um... "no thanks".
I had to firmly tell her that was NEVER going to happen and then asked for some privacy.

At least she's helpful.
