H & M

There's something so fun and giddy about watching your little ones develop friendships.

At least 99% of the time...

the other 1% of the time when my child is practically arching her back into a bridge
and crying "it's mine" isn't quite as much fun and doesn't make me quite as giddy...

but it's only 1%
and I can deal with 1% with a massive eye roll and sigh
because the other 99% is so much fun.

We had Haidyn over the other day and the girls had a great time.
Except...
that 1% moment...
and it was kind of funny and sad all at the same time.

I had gotten Maguire a helium balloon (breast cancer awareness mind you) at the grocery store a few days earlier as some kind of reward. When the girls were playing they'd take turns running around with it. Because it was a beautiful day I had the front door open and began assembling all the tools necessary for colouring. I heard the girls run outside and decided to check on them, and just as I did Haidyn released the balloon to freedom and shouted "look it's flying!" She began jumping up and down and giggling, to which Maggie immediately copied.
"Mommy my balloon is flying!"
I looked up into the sky and watched the balloon float away only to be accosted by a sudden ear piercing scream.
Hmmm hm...
It suddenly donned on miss Mags that the balloon was flying... away.

Inconsolable... for probably about 5 long minutes.

Haidyn's confusion was obvious...

so funny and so sad.

your balloon + maggie stories have been classic as of late! you really need to share the "scary" balloon one. it is in fact that time of year :)

beautiful pictures. maybe you should start giving us lessons.
