+/-

+ = he's so stinkin' cute
- = he's so much stinkin' trouble

so...
the other day I was making dinner for someone.
It was a beautiful day out and I hate the lingering smell of browning meat in my house,
so I opened up some windows, the back door and the garage to get a good cross breeze.
I know Anderson David Webster is a mischievous hooligan so I put up the gate in the doorway.
(it's a gate that's cheap and lame and I can never figure it out)

I began cooking the meatballs and observed Ander playing in the living room...
now...
I'd like to say "literally 30 seconds later",
but in all honesty it could have been "2 min. later",
I hear a gentleman calling out "hello" in my garage.
weird.
I poke my head around the corner and just as I'm about to say "can I help you"
something catches the corner of my eye...
a gate...
that is ajar...

It's amazing how your heart rate can go from a calm 0 to 100 in milliseconds...

"There's a little boy across the street, is there any chance he belongs to you?"
Honestly I couldn't scramble faster, and it's amazing that I didn't break into tears.
As I'm spewing all kinds of appreciation and confusion to the stranger,
I run out of the garage and see my perfect, beautiful, rascally little boy
sitting across the road playing in a rock garden.
Can you believe he had the nerve to squawk at me when I ruined his fun and picked him up?

+ = the stranger was so kind about the whole situation
- = a stranger found my toddler outside/alone

+ = I know I was given a tender mercy
and I'm grateful I was busy with service instead of something useless.
- = Felt like a pretty terrible mama, and struggle with the "what if's"

+ = I love this little boy so so so much
+ = I learned a valuable lesson
+/- = this little man has an adventurous/fearless little spirit
gonna have to watch that...

this is a really scary story. i was actually thinking about it again later that night after we talked. you must have been terrified. those babies are little geniuses and can't be trusted when left to their own devices. stinkers. ps- my word verification is "colons" ewwww

+ when i first read this i thought it said 'for some reason i was making supper,' which is a totally acceptable phrase in my house, then i had to go back when i read the service part, and service is odd for me, probably why i missed it. (it's + for me cause it was funny, still maybe not for you.)

- SCARY situation

+ he is ok and still super cute!

+ it will be a positive if you still think i'm normal after this comment. but it's all ok because we don't know each other anyway.

-me commenting after midnight on peoples blogs (this is where it could be a + for you)

also, i laughed outloud at the above picture of mags. oh, i just laughed again because i pictured it.

First, I hate this story with a passion. When I told mom it made her sick. Second, laughing really hard at Lindseys comment.

I know how you feel... we were having a party and Carly somehow managed to go down the basement stairs out the back door and make her way outside to the street where a lady driving by found her. Worst feeling ever! You're an awesome mom... kids are just too tricky sometimes!
